Lincoln Zebra Homecoming Game

Chris was asked by a good friend if he would drive their son, Scotty Trembinksi, and his homecoming princess in the Lincoln Zebra Homecoming Parade. Chris was more than happy to take the T-Bird out and participate in this event.  It is always fun to see the attention this old car gets. My Grandpa would be proud. He loved that car and we are keeping his legacy alive!  

We had been waiting to attend another Zebra game and thought homecoming would be a great excuse.  The kids were excited and we had a fun night sitting with the Trembinksi Family.  Grant is buddies with Tommy.  They were in class together in Mrs. Maynard's 1st/2nd combo.  I just love this family!

As we watched Chris drive Scotty and his Princess, it was fun to listen to the crowds around me.  Kids and adults alike, agreed that the Freshman had the coolest car to ride in.  So cute.   Grandpa Klonowski would seriously be grinning from ear to ear!

Cook Docent Project

I wanted to help out in the kids classes so I decided to just sign up to be the cook docent in Loren's class and to be responsible for parties, etc. in Grant's class.  I talked to Mrs. Cassidy and decided to come to class monthly to do a cooking or food project.  Our first project was these apple smiles made with apple slices, peanut putter and marshmallows. The kids had a blast making them.  Some chose to eat them while others decided they didn't like them.  It was a fun project either way!

Folsom Zoo Field Trip

Our first field trip for preschool was to the Folsom Zoo.  We rode with Madelyn and her Mommy.  The girls loved riding together.  They were laughing and giggling like little girls the whole time.  Mrs. Wright was a trooper with her foot injury, but was lucky enough to borrow a wheel chair so we just pushed her around the zoo.  I loved teasing her about being crippled and having to rely on us mom's to take care of her! Usually she is the one with endless energy and its hard to keep this lady down.  We knew this was killing her, so we couldn't help but tease her a little. 

The kids enjoyed looking at all the animals, but by far, their favorite was the tigers and bears.  We watched the tigers for a long time before we found the bears.  We were able to see them feeding the bears and watched them eat everything from whole heads of lettuce to entire cobs of corn.  It was mesmerizing to watch them. 

After looking at all the animals, we went on the little train ride that was nearby, ate a picnic lunch and then played at the park. 

Morgan and Madelyn would swing all day if we let them.  It cracks me up.  They like to swing high, high, high!

I LOVE to see the TEMPLE, Sly Family Sealings

 

Imagine our surprise when Chris' parents called us one day and told us they were going to go to the temple to be sealed for time and all eternity! (Mom, herself, could hardly believe it) We were ecstatic, tearful and ever so grateful.  This was a blessing that we weren't sure would ever be realized in this lifetime.  Dad was selling one of his cars in order to pay tithing and do the things he needed to do make this possible.  Scotty's death has really put a lot of things into perspective for our family.  Mom and Dad wanted to be there when Chris did Scotty's temple work and they wanted to have a forever family, now more than ever.  What a wonderful gift that Chris could give his brother, to do his temple work.  Chris was able to be sealed to his parents as well, and Mom and Dad were both individually sealed to their parents.  Chris stood proxy for Grandpa Williams and I was proxy for Grandma Williams.  Dee and Ellen were able to be there and stood proxy for Grandma and Grandpa Sly as Dad was sealed to his parents.   I also was able to be Mom's escort as she received her endowment.  What a sweet experience to be a part of.  Chris was Dad's escort and carried Scotty's name for the endowment.  It was a wonderful, wonderful day, but I can't put adequately into words, the sacred nature of that day.  We definitely felt Scotty's presence there that day.  What a wonderful blessing to know that the sealing power is here on this earth and that we can be bound to our families forever.  This life is so short compared to the eternities that lie ahead.  We know that we will see Scotty again and look forward to that sweet reunion.
 

 

The grandkids were all waiting outside the temple when we came out that afternoon.  It was so sweet!

Space Shuttle Endeavour

On September 21st, 2012, The Space Shuttle Endeavour, mounted atop a jumbo jet, made a flyover above Sacramento. The fifth and last shuttle built by NASA was being hauled to its final destination, a Los Angeles museum.The event marked a hand-over of the reins of shuttle programs from government to privately financed projects.  Chris, Morgan and I were lucky enough to witness this event as we were outside the Maita Toyota dealership in Sacramento waiting to pickup our new van.  It was so cool to see!  My pictures aren't nearly as good as the ones I found online, but it was a spectacular sight.

Out with the Old Van....In with the NEW

On September 21st, 2012, we said goodbye to our old/first van!  I have loved my Toyota Sienna from the minute I got it.  The warranties were up, and unfortunately, there are a few problems (the electric doors and hatch) we were continuously fixing in the van, so we decided to trade it in.  Chris probably would've rather traded it in for an SUV, but I told him that I needed one more van to get me through the time the kids were young.  I love having the sliding doors and that I don't have to worry about the kids getting in and out and banging into a car next to them with a heavy door.  We rely on those little features that our van provides.  So...we just decided to trade it in for a new Toyota Sienna.  If you didn't know any better, you would think I was driving the same van.  It looks so similar.  We did away with the DVD player though.  It only caused problems in the car and the adults were growing tired of listening to movies.  We have portable DVD players that we can put in for longer car rides and we think that will be much better.  I also love that this new van can ride 8 passengers.  I know we will never be a family of 8, but it seems we are always toting extra kids here and there.  I love having a van!

2012/2013 School Pictures

In September, Grant and Loren had school pictures done.  I decided to snap a few pictures of my own and only purchase the class picture from the school.  I ordered the class pictures, but apparently, this year, the school decided not to photograph the classes until the spring.  So....the individual pictures are of the kids during the fall and the class picture was from the spring.  Wow, how the kid have grown!
